1) What do you love about fashion ?
The main thing I love about fashion is that it is one of the main and easiest avenues for self-expression and creativity. Our love for fashion and style no matter how simple or unfashionable it seems, in most cases is an extension of ourselves and our personalities. I love fashion and being able to express myself through my own style. I could not live without fashion.

2) What made you want to be a designer?
Whenever I’m asked this question I always say Fashion and designing I didn’t choose… It choose me. I have always loved and studied art in every school and institution I attended. A clinche I know, But I used to sew my doll’s clothes and outfits and developed a distinctive dress sense from an early age. Clothing design and fashion were inevitable.

3) Who is you inspiration?
Life is my inspiration and everyone I meet. Everyone has a story to tell. From an art and fashion perspective Picasso and Alexander Mcqueen have always been, are and always will be my ultimate favourite for reason too long to list.

4) Congradualations on graduating, What was you inspiration for you final year collection ?
My graduate collection titled “Birthtalife” is an immensely personal and autobiographical collection. It is literally about me and gives the world a direct view into my life and story so far, through colour, silhouette, shape and overall mood created by each garment and look. It even includes extracts from my personal diary converted directly in to text print.
Following a past project which I thoroughly enjoyed entitled: ‘ This is my Afterlife’ based on the apocalyptic end of the world and publications by the French artist Blaise Cendrars and Fernand Leger entitled “La Fun Du Monde” ( The end of the world), together with my own personal experiences, I have proceeded to further explore the themes of life, decay, rust death and the afterlife.

5) What kind of fabrics did you use?
I used a wide range of fabrics from plain shirting cotton to 100% Wool, Knitwear, Silk, plus more. All prints were designed and made by me. I am a strongly believe in making my own fabrics instead of buying what’s already on the market. This means I can really be free to express myself, represents the brand Sydney-Davies and my clients get complete originality.

6) Have you done any internships and with whom?
I interned with my dream house McQ Alexander McQueen last year in 2011 for what I can only and always describe as the best and more important 3 months of my career.

7) What do you advise for those that want to be a fashion designer?
My advise to anyone who wants to be a designer of any sort would be LOVE! Unlike all other career paths fashion and most other creative paths live and will only survive on love.

 Sydney-Davies Collection:

The lady behind Sydney-Davies who I know as Fifi is amazing, she is bubble and ambitious. She is creative and passionate even when she talks about the collection to me. I can see this young lady doing alot of big things in her life.
