Wabi is a lovely Japanese Restaurant cum Cocktail Bar in Horsham Town Centre with its own ambiance and a very lovely Zen style back garden area for those who like outdoor feel or for smokers. The cocktails are unique to Wabi and quite exciting with tantalizing ingredients. There are a variety of cocktails at Wabi for all but we tried the new menu with new concepts to tasty and colourful cocktails.
My first try was Mandarin Escort with frothy egg white served with a shot of Wabi bubbly – and a favourite of everyone who tried it. Highly recommend to try the Matcha White Vodka served with Matcha Chocolate Stick and their take of an old classic called Gabrioska which had Black Grass Jelly and served in handmade candy glass. Wabi creates makes the matcha chocolate themselves.
Kumquat Margarita is not for me and preferred the Kyoto Chalked Ice Tea because it was nice to know the added ingredients to make it their own. Who would think to put edible chalk in their drink , why no ?! Out of the Garden which has 2 types of rums and homemade syrup of lemongrass, coriander and basil was very interesting and refreshing. A great new addition and flavor for a cocktail.
They have an extensive menu of small bites to share but they also have a great dinner menu. We tried a platter of Chicken Kara Age and Kimchi Coleslaw and Squid Kara Age with Green Chilli Sauce and a Bowl of Salted Endame Beans- it great to have when you have had too many cocktails. It was a lovely evening with wonderful drink and food and most important the attentive service that makes you feel welcomed.
The cocktails were made by Ben Suwanmongkol and Chris Popley – Definitely recommend them to make you these cocktails.
