This year I took on a bigger role of managing over 30 to 50 people to make this fashion show work for everyone. It was alot of pressure but worth every second from beginning to end! I think as a managing director I love my team to enjoy working with me and showcasing the best of their work. I got to see those who are passionate and those who want to learn more. Along the way you tend to have those that enjoy wasting your time but I am always smiling because their is always another plan up my sleeve.
As I got off the airplane in Edinburgh my first day was meetings and then a rehearsal at 9am. The rehearsals where an adventure as we had to get the models through 2 floors on the right timing. The location is in the heart of Edinburgh, No.8 Lister Square. It was easy to say Yes to the location as it was out of our box, with a beautiful layout ( there is more to come on the location and why we choose it). As the runway was long there was a need to have lots of rehearsals and practice. I am not a model but through working with alot of them and learning from my mentors, I am able to teach and guide the models on poses, timing and confidence.
The next few days was photoshoots with amazing photographers, models, make up artist and behind the scenes crew. These photoshoots helped first time models how shoots go, make up artist on experience in other styles and photographers on other ways of looking at locations.
After a week and half of photoshoots, it was time to push on the fashion show and 2 rehearsals left. Everyday is a learning curve for the team and I.
