It has taken me a while to sort out what I wanted to add to my work table. I like to keep things around me inspirational and things to keep me motivated, especially when going through emails, writing post or editing videos. As I had gone round Dubai since I got back from Scotland, I decided to clear out my old desk, piled with paper, magazines and more. It was time for a change but a creative one!
Each piece was added to my desk for a reason, and its all personal. I have a board with pictures of Jessica Alba ( ever since Honey the movie I have been in love with her , she is a wonderful actress and a women who inspires with a her company Honest) , David Beckham ( was my sports crush ever since I was 7 years old, he’s just plain hot … a great motivation on a busy day to smile at him … not really crazy I promise!!!!), there are pictures on the board of the fun times with family and friends at events I took. I always say its good to be surrounded by people you love to motivate you to work.
I know most bloggers are seen with a MACbook but I love my Toshiba, it has been loyal to me and have survived through alot. I might at tome point invest in a MACbook but for now I am happy with what I have.
I love reading about inspiring fashionistas who made it in the fashion industry and inspired it, so I tend to collect some biographies. On top of all this I put the word HAPPY on my desk from a brand in Dubai called Sassak ( she’s on instagram) , it just makes me smile because its a word that I stick in my heart. I do what I do because it makes me happy! ( it comes with my name FARAH). The quote in front was given to me by my sister who is my best friend, she is such a supporter of my work. ‘The Very Things That Held You Down Are Going To Carry You Up’, it reminds me of where I started from what made me weak as a kids has made me stronger as women.
Being part of the bloggers world, we tend to always have our phone on use or a camera. I am bit old fashioned and still take pictures from a camera. I was on the look out for a lovely strap for the camera and came along Ryoko Bags. They had a beautiful leather strap for my camera, and the brand is unique and affordable.. ( there will me more to come about them and their work).
Since moving back to Dubai, I have had the privilege of meeting wonderful designers based in the city as well as brands I adore. I have a Gabs cup for all my stationary as they a brand which is close to my heart, their team are lovely and always laughing at my silly jokes.. GOD help them !! I love Oud so the iphone cover from FMM by Fatma Al Mulla is always with me. Fatma Al Mulla is a good friend, inspiring and humble. I met the lovely young designer over 3 years ago with a big heart and lots of ideas, till this day her heart gets bigger and her designs are out of this world. Another local design who I recently came across is World of Jute, absolutely lovely designer and all her designs using recyclable bags.
I tend to always have to write notes here and there, so I collected some of over time but I love the one by Hafsa Lodi. She is another designer based in Dubai with beautiful colourful abaya like designs but this time she added a few notebooks.
I support the local brands where ever I go from London, Edinburgh, Dubai, Muscat and more. They are the future and they are truely inspirational… They also make you stand out with their one off pieces !!!
